No 34: Snap, shot
In honor of World Nutella Day, I brought my digital camera to work, intending to snap photos of one of my great pleasures in life: the strawberry-banana-Nutella crêpe at Pari Cafe Creperie. So many things about crêpes make me happy. They can be sweet, they can be savory. You can eat them with cutlery, or just dig in with your hands. It’s spellbinding every time the cooks zamboni the crêpe batter across the iron with that wee wooden rake. The fact that the word “crêpe” wears a cute little hat is just an added bonus.
One of my friends joined me for some choco-hazelnut goodness. Everything was great, until I pulled out my camera. Its batteries had gasped their last, so the camera slept the sleep of the dead.
There my friend and I stood, two hungry Luddites with nary a camera phone between us. We frowned and furrowed our brows for a moment — then dove into our delectable crêpes with great gusto anyway, completely unable to resist the siren song of freshly warmed Nutella.
Sorry about the camera malfunction, folks. Sadly, there’s no photographic record of this afternoon’s goofy Nutella smudge on my chin. (Send in the clowns!) Well, maybe next year.
Nutella in ‘08!
